The Writing LAB’s Ekphrastic Writing Residency

Submissions will open in May, 2025.

The Ekphrastic Writing Residency will take place at Madison Community Arts Center on September 28, 12-5:30PM. This year our participants will focus on writing new work inspired by music.

Residency participants will have their writing in a full color compilation book alongside original music from our Musicians-in-Residence.
- Participants must commit to the residency date.

In-person Book Launch will take place at Madison Community Arts Center on December 15, 2025, 7-8:30PM.
- Prizes awarded to 2 writers for the most creative ekphrastic piece written during the residency.
- The Madison Community Arts Center is a 5 minute walk from NJ Transit Madison Station.

Interested? Send an email to info@artsbythepeople.org with Ekphrastic Residency in the subject line. Include your name, bio, 3 sample poems or 2 prose pieces (under 2500 words). Please mention if you have participated in any ABTP programs currently or in the past. We’d like to know!
Space is limited to 12 writers.
